About the Role

As a Field Engineer on federal AI projects, you will work directly with public sector customers to ensure their success with Scale's technology. You will help customers build production-grade data pipelines by collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams, deeply understanding customer use cases, and developing necessary tools and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Build end-to-end data integrations that sync customer data to and from Scale's platform
  • Work with customers' engineering teams to optimize data pipelines, including input on API endpoint design and input/output schemas
  • Design and maintain playbooks, internal tools, documentation, and SDKs that set customers up for long-term success
  • Partner with engineers and Operations to resolve technical blockers, debug delivery issues, and own technical escalations from customers
  • Own the customer's technical experience throughout their time with Scale
  • Work with Account Executives and Product Managers to identify customer-specific feature requests
  • Develop expertise in large language models, 2D image annotation, and API integrations
  • Represent Scale and engage with customers at major events

Requirements

  • An active TS/SCI clearance is required
  • Experience as a customer-facing engineer or in a similar hybrid role
  • Hands-on technical experience working with clients in a pre- or post-sales capacity
  • Development experience with Python, JavaScript, or other modern languages
  • A strong engineering background, ideally in computer science, mathematics, or another quantitative field
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to present credibly to both executives and front-line engineers
  • Comfort communicating across internal and external teams
  • Intellectual curiosity, empathy, and the ability to move quickly
