About the Role

Block by Block California employs Ambassadors to enhance public spaces, making them friendlier, safer, and cleaner. This role offers a high level of visibility at the street level, performing various cleaning tasks while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. It's an excellent opportunity for individuals who are outgoing, friendly, enjoy working outdoors, and meeting new people.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks in an assigned zone.
• Acknowledge and engage pedestrians and visitors in a friendly manner.
• Remove litter, including fast food bags, cups, cans, cigarette butts, and other debris from streets, sidewalks, and alleys.
• Remove graffiti and posters from street furniture and fixtures.
• Pull weeds from tree wells, sidewalk cracks, and vacant lots.
• Damp wipe and straighten outdoor surfaces like trash cans and news boxes.
• Identify and report unwanted behaviors or criminal activity to Safety Ambassadors.
• Complete basic daily reports of tasks performed.

Requirements

• One year of cleaning experience preferred; training is provided.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions.
• Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
• CA Driver's License with a clean driving record is required for Pressure Washers.
