About the Role

A Hemodialysis Nurse is a qualified Registered Nurse who performs patient care and related duties as assigned, including supervising Hemodialysis Technicians.

Responsibilities

• Start-up, set-up, operation, rinse and disinfection of dialysis machines.
• Priming of dialyzers including all safety checks related to the use of dialyzers.
• Pre and post dialysis nursing evaluation of patients, including sign-off after each dialysis shift on treatment records.
• Initiates and discontinues dialysis treatment on all assigned patients.
• Monitors patients throughout their hemodialysis treatment including vital signs, machine checks, emergency interventions.
• Administration of medications to patients per physician orders.
• Neat and legible charting of treatment information, meds, routine tests, etc. per procedure.
• Implementation and signs-off physician orders.
• Cleaning of dialysis machines, patient chairs and other ancillary equipment as needed.
• Maintains Basic Life Support CPR certification which includes CPR and other resuscitative measures as indicated and operation of the AED when appropriate as prompted in emergency situations.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse.
• Training and/or (one year preferred) in a outpatient hemodialysis setting.
• CPR certification

Experience Level

• One year preferred in an outpatient hemodialysis setting

Education Level

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse
• CPR certification
