About the Role

Seeking a part-time Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide essential support for students in NYC Department of Education (DOE) schools, helping them develop critical academic and independent living skills. This role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact using evidence-based approaches and provides flexibility in delivering personalized therapy interventions.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality occupational therapy services for students in individual and group settings, as mandated by their IESP/IEP.
• Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate students' fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills.
• Create and execute evidence-based treatment plans utilizing sensory integration, motor learning principles, and adaptive strategies.
• Adjust and modify classroom environments, learning materials, and assistive devices to improve student participation and independence.
• Work closely with parents, teachers, related service providers, and school administrators to ensure coordinated care and optimal outcomes.
• Offer guidance and training to educational staff on positioning, adaptive equipment usage, and sensory strategies.
• Detailed and timely documentation of all services, progress, and outcomes per DOE regulations and Knowledge Road standards.
• Participate actively in IESP/IEP meetings, providing expert occupational therapy insights and evidence-based recommendations.

Requirements

• Current valid NYS license as an Occupational Therapist in good standing.
• NBCOT certification.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in school-based or pediatric settings.
• Competency in electronic documentation systems and teletherapy platforms.
• NYC DOE fingerprinting and vendor status required or willingness to complete before start.
