About the Role

The People & Culture Operations Coordinator optimizes P&C processes and service delivery to enhance the employee experience throughout the employee life cycle. Reporting to the Supervisor-Generalist, this role provides direct support to staff across recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, training, and legislative compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate staff onboarding and pre-employment background checks
  • Support hiring managers with job postings, screening calls, and reference checks
  • Liaise with departments regarding onboarding, offboarding, and internal processes
  • Facilitate staff adherence to P&C policies and employment legislation
  • Provide technical support for the HRIS system (BambooHR)
  • Maintain accurate HR documentation, benefits records, and employee files
  • Draft P&C communications and employment contracts
  • Deliver benefits orientation sessions
  • Process benefits enrolments, coverage changes, and terminations
  • Coordinate P&C staff events and feedback surveys
  • Advance YSM values, diversity, equity, inclusion, and Biblical foundations
  • Create and edit confidential P&C materials and conduct research
  • Serve as a representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Support P&C projects and initiatives

Requirements

  • College diploma or university degree in HR Management, Business Administration, or Psychology
  • 2-3 years of HR experience
  • Working knowledge of HR management functions and processes
  • Familiarity with Ontario Employment Standards Act, AODA, OHSA, and Ontario Human Rights legislation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive client service orientation
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues with confidentiality, tact, and empathy
  • Strong project coordination and time management skills
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to learn new skills and adapt to changing environments
  • Awareness of equity, inclusion, and diversity issues
  • Personal commitment to the mission and values of YSM
