About the Role

The Assistant Superintendent assists the Superintendent in managing all field construction of the Project. This role is part of the field team responsible for all aspects of the Project's budget, schedule, safety, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the safety program and maintain safety and record-keeping requirements.
  • Supervise, direct, coach, train, and mentor the project field team.
  • Communicate effectively with the CCM team and trades, ensuring performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent, Project Manager, and project team.
  • Advise the Site Superintendent and/or Project Manager of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties.
  • Ensure construction complies with drawings and specifications by liaising with field and project teams.
  • Monitor and execute the project construction plan and schedule.
  • Review and understand the contract and subcontracts, including risk and risk mitigation plans.
  • Maintain project administration correspondence and comply with documentation requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary school degree or diploma in a construction-related area of study.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct work experience in high-rise / ICI construction.
  • Previous experience overseeing construction worksites is an asset.
  • Current and up-to-date Health & Safety certifications.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Solid understanding of construction trades and construction techniques.
  • Effectiveness in construction safety and productivity.
  • Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations and legislation in construction, specifically high-rise residential / ICI construction.
  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and related building codes.
