About the Role
As a Teaching Assistant for the Intro to AI class, you will foster a supportive classroom community, track student progress, and collaborate with the Lead Instructor to help students reach their potential while bridging the tech divide for Bay Area youth.
Responsibilities
- Create an inclusive classroom culture based on social justice, community, accountability, smart risks, and love
- Plan and lead community-building games and activities
- Foster individual relationships with students
- Promote positive and productive student collaboration
- Support students in developing and showcasing capstone projects for Demo Day
- Manage classroom behavior to maintain a productive learning environment
- Lead class sessions in the absence of the Lead Instructor
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Collaborate with the Lead Instructor and instructional staff
- Communicate course and student progress to families and Program Staff
Requirements
- Experience working with youth, preferably in an educational setting
- Values aligned with Mission Bit and a passion for supporting youth
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable and compelling public speaking abilities
- Experience working with a diverse group of individuals
- Self-starting with the ability to work autonomously
