About the Role

Health Center Inc. is seeking a Pulmonologist to provide comprehensive outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with acute and chronic respiratory diseases. This role involves collaborating with primary care providers and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care, promoting disease prevention, education, and evidence-based treatment. It's an exciting opportunity to make an impact for under-represented communities with a stable work schedule (no weekends and no overnights).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with respiratory disorders including Asthma, COPD, chronic cough, pulmonary fibrosis and interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary nodules, sleep-related breathing disorders, bronchiectasis, and respiratory infections.
  • Perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Interpret diagnostic studies including Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), Spirometry, chest imaging, laboratory results, and arterial blood gases.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans using current evidence-based clinical guidelines.
  • Prescribe medications, inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and other appropriate treatments.
  • Coordinate referrals for advanced diagnostic testing or inpatient care when clinically indicated.
  • Educate patients and families regarding disease management, smoking cessation, medication adherence, and preventive care.
  • Collaborate with primary care physicians, specialists, respiratory therapists, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance improvement programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, regulatory requirements, HIPAA standards, and clinical protocols.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and continuing medical education activities.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Current unrestricted medical license in the state of New York.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pulmonary Disease.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency.
  • Completion of an accredited Pulmonary Medicine fellowship.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Experience treating adult patients with chronic respiratory diseases.
