About the Role

Touchstone Climbing is seeking a Gym Manager for its new bouldering gym, Aisle 19, in San Francisco. This role involves shaping the identity of a new gym, driving its success, and impacting the local community by creating a thriving, welcoming destination for climbers and fitness enthusiasts.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a strong, passionate team by hiring, training, and mentoring staff.
• Foster a positive, inclusive work environment that supports growth, accountability, and collaboration.
• Serve as a leader and role model for professionalism, excellent service, and community engagement.
• Ensure Aisle 19 operates seamlessly, maintaining Touchstone’s high standards for cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
• Manage budgets, analyze performance metrics, and implement strategies to optimize operations.
• Oversee climbing wall inspections, equipment maintenance, and other facility improvements.
• Create a welcoming and vibrant environment by engaging with members and responding to their feedback.
• Organize events, programs, and initiatives that celebrate and support the local climbing and fitness community.
• Collaborate with Touchstone’s marketing team to promote Hyperion’s unique offerings and foster its identity.

Requirements

• Leadership experience in customer-focused industries (e.g., gyms, recreation centers, hospitality).
• Intermediate technology skills, using programs such as Google Workspace, Slack, HRIS/Timekeeping programs.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with a results-oriented mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including conflict resolution.
• Familiarity with climbing or fitness industries, including route setting or facility management.
• A passion for climbing, and creating inclusive spaces that celebrate diversity and foster community.
