About the Role
National Grid is seeking a competent Security Officer to monitor premises and protect staff. The role requires a sharp eye, quick reaction time for detecting suspicious behavior, and preventing theft or vandalism.
Responsibilities
- Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points.
- Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior.
- Guard access points, permitting or refusing entry, restraining trespassers, and directing heavy traffic.
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
Requirements
- Previous law enforcement experience of 15+ years (municipal, state or federal).
- Concealed gun permit for NYC with the ability to carry a firearm.
- Able to stand, walk, climb ladders or steps during an 8-hour shift or irregular shift.
- Able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Valid US driver’s license with a safe driving history meeting National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
- Must pass post-offer hearing and vision assessment.
- Required to take Fire Brigade training to obtain/maintain LNG certifications.
- Must have the ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.
- Incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US DOT covered positions (FMCSA and PHMSA).
