About the Role
The User Experience (UX) Designer ensures The Salvation Army's Digital Experience Platform products are intuitive, engaging, and user-centered across mobile and desktop. This role creates seamless navigation, personalized interactions, and meaningful digital experiences by applying user research, workflow analysis, and design best practices, ultimately improving user satisfaction and usability.
Responsibilities
- Apply architecture, design principles, and industry best practices to deliver consistent, user-centered digital solutions.
- Contribute to planning workshops, product strategy discussions, and solution design activities that support business objectives.
- Advance organizational standards, methodologies, and best practices to strengthen design and development capabilities.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to design and deliver web and mobile experiences.
- Consult with clients and stakeholders to understand business goals, communicate research findings, and align solutions with user needs.
- Create personas, user journeys, wireframes, storyboards, sitemaps, screen flows, and prototypes that guide solution development and improve user experiences.
- Evaluate usability, customer insights, competitor trends, user feedback, and digital usage data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Analyze business and technical requirements, provide input into solution specifications, and support effective design, development, testing, and review processes.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a structured UX Design project work environment.
- Demonstrated portfolio showcasing successful UX, UI, and digital design projects with a strong user-centered focus.
- Strong understanding of graphic design principles and web technologies.
- Experience using wireframing and prototyping tools such as Figma, UXPin, or Adobe XD.
- Proficiency with design software including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive web design, software design patterns, and n-tier architecture.
- Experience with website content creation and Liferay platform is an asset.
- Experience working within formal IT project methodologies, processes, and best practices.
- Strong creative, technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities, combined with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, time-management, and process-management skills.
- Self-directed and collaborative approach, with the ability to build effective working relationships across technical and business teams.
- Proven adaptability in changing environments, commitment to continuous learning, accountability for results, and a proactive focus on process improvement and operational efficiency.

Salary/Compensations
- $85,321.60 to $106,641.60 with a maximum of $127,982.40
