About the Role

The International School of San Francisco is seeking positive, passionate, and knowledgeable coaches to join its Athletic Department. The department operates within a K-12 independent school setting, serving over 600 students in grades 5-8. The Jaguar Athletic experience aims to foster growth, pride, and enthusiasm, allowing student-athletes to develop healthy practices of mind, body, and character. The school values respect, integrity, inclusion, collaboration, and curiosity, striving to develop compassionate, confident, and principled individuals.

Responsibilities

Administer all levels of their sport.
Follow the procedures of the high school’s athletic program, and the International and California Interscholastic Federation.
Provide clear communication for student-athletes and families regarding expectations and philosophy.
Seek resolution for conflicts at the appropriate time.
Assist in the total development of all student-athletes using positive methods.
Create and implement a meaningful practice structure to enhance instruction, development, and effective use of time.
Use a holistic approach when evaluating a student-athlete, considering skill, character, integrity, leadership, coachability, and love for the sport.
Select student-athletes that best represent the School’s Mission without regard to ability or status.
Incorporate a student-driven, mid and post-season review.
Foster an environment that develops positive leadership qualities.
Select Team Captains and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) members based on character and leadership ability.
Uphold the Mission of the school and conduct themselves accordingly.

Requirements

Experience coaching at the middle school, high school, college or club level.
Experience working, playing or coaching in a value-based athletic program.
Must be reliable, prompt and dependable.
Must be able to have transportation.
Ability to pass a full background check.
Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered.
