About the Role

The ITS Lead is a senior-level technical and leadership role responsible for overseeing the deployment, maintenance, and continued operation of the Authority’s Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) infrastructure. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, training facilitation, and support throughout ITS strategic planning and the deployment of innovative approaches and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead ITS technicians and support staff in daily operations, project execution, and emergency response
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of ITS devices including CCTV, dynamic message signs (DMS), Wrong Way Detection Systems (WWDS), Road Weather Information Systems (RWIS), Microwave Vehicle Detection Systems (MVDS) and Bluetooth traffic devices
  • Mentor technicians and conduct training sessions and workshops to ensure team proficiency in ITS technologies, safety protocols, and operational standards
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary organizational stakeholders and external vendors to resolve technical issues and implement new technologies
  • Monitor and report on technician performance, project progress, and system reliability using tools such as Skyline Envoy, Genetec, Flux Client and the MS Suite: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Support the procurement of third-party contractors and vendors, including participation in the development of procurement documentation and scopes-of-work and the evaluation of submitted proposals
  • Identify, propose, and lead pilot projects, proofs-of-concept, and innovative initiatives to enhance or improve ITS operations and integrate emerging technologies
  • Ensure compliance with departmental protocols, industry standards, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent
  • 3 -5 years’ experience supporting the installation and operation of ITS or comparable experience leading cross-functional technical teams
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain a Class B CDL to operate Bucket Truck controls and work at various heights up to 100ft, loading and unloading equipment using the winch and being able to pull trailers

  • Midpoint: $89,594/annually
