About the Role

GreenSpark Solar is seeking an experienced Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician to join their team. This advanced field-based role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing renewable energy systems to ensure safe and efficient operation. It is a hands-on position requiring work in various environmental conditions, involving independent and collaborative problem-solving, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare for upcoming visits by researching case notes, adding data from customer build files, and obtaining necessary parts and supplies.
  • Perform maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair of solar photovoltaic systems and ancillary equipment.
  • Update internal service records, time logs, and gather information for warranty claims.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of site visits.
  • Communicate issues and resolutions clearly to customers, office staff, and the operations team.
  • Adhere to safety policies and maintain tools, meters, truck stock, and spare parts inventory.
  • Attend training sessions and create reports on system operability and major issues.
  • Install photovoltaic (PV) systems, including ballasted systems on flat roofs, pitched roofs, and ground-mounted systems, during periods with no maintenance work.
  • Ensure personal, crew, and job site safety in accordance with Company and OSHA standards.
  • Perform general construction tasks and operate hand and power tools, with occasional heavy machinery use.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
  • Install systems to specifications, meeting high-quality standards and applicable codes.
  • Support tool management and proper maintenance of personal and company tools and install vehicles.
  • Practice company core values in all daily activities.
  • Follow daily instructions from Crew Lead and Project Managers.

Requirements

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in photovoltaic (PV) maintenance, including PV DC systems, AC medium-voltage systems, and network communications.
  • Experience with SCADA, DAS, UPS systems, and electrical testing equipment such as thermal imaging cameras, IV curve tracers, and megohm (megger) testers.
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), industry design and construction practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work at heights for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50+ pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to travel to project sites, including overnight travel as needed.
  • Roofing, electrical, and/or solar experience preferred.

  • OSHA 10-Hour Construction and NFPA 70E certifications are preferred but may be obtained after hire.

Salary/Compensations

  • $18.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience.
  • Opportunities to earn prevailing wage compensation may be available.
  • Quarterly bonus potential based on company performance.
