About the Role
As a Lead Instructor for the Intro to AI class, you will deliver weekly lessons, connect with students, and foster an engaging classroom environment using Mission Bit’s project-based curriculum. This role is highly visible and student-facing, ideal for those passionate about community, social justice, and coding, aiming to uplift Bay Area youth and bridge the tech divide.
Responsibilities
- Create an inclusive and community-based classroom culture aligned with Mission Bit's core values.
- Prepare and facilitate two lessons per week, adjusting to students' learning needs.
- Ensure students develop sufficient understanding to build a final project for Demo Day.
- Foster individual and meaningful relationships with students.
- Communicate and collaborate with the TA and other instructional staff.
- Attend weekly staff and curriculum meetings.
- Suggest and implement new ideas to improve Mission Bit and its curriculum.
- Communicate course progress to students and their families.
- Communicate student progress and success to Program Staff and the Innovative Learning Manager.
Requirements
- Experience in teaching, instruction, or mentoring, including leadership roles.
- Experience working with youth, especially in an educational setting.
- Experience using AI or in relevant coding languages and/or software.
- Values aligned with Mission Bit and a passion for sharing CS knowledge.
- Experience effectively working on a team for technical projects.
- Comfortable in public speaking situations with strong communication skills.
- Experience working with a diverse group of individuals.
- Self-starting with the ability to effectively work autonomously.
