About the Role

Individuals in this role provide extraordinary shopping experiences to guests and exceptional service at the time of checkout. As a Front-End Associate, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. You will play a key role in assisting customers with their purchases, handling cash transactions, and maintaining the appearance of the store.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests with a smiling face and helpful demeanor, using the Guest Services script.
  • Operate cash register or electronic scanner and look up products as needed.
  • Ensure proper pricing by scanning the correct barcode.
  • Properly use and maintain computers, registers, and scanner equipment.
  • Suggestively sell items to guests at the register and offer add-on items, including the charity of the month.
  • Monitor merchandise brought to the register by stockers.
  • Redeem coupons and weigh produce items when required.
  • Kindly ask the guest to read and answer the pin pad question before starting the transaction.
  • Check acceptable identification to ensure legal sales.
  • Receive cash, checks, debit cards, credit cards, or gift cards.
  • Issue receipts and any change due.
  • Accurately count change back to the guest.
  • Bag or box merchandise, using business-minded practices for bag usage.
  • Assist with carry-outs when needed and feasible.
  • Compute and record totals of all transactions on daily record sheet.
  • Call the code for a cash drop as soon as the limit has been reached.
  • Keep work area clean and neat.
  • Count down drawer at end of shift and prepare final drop.
  • Answer questions and provide information to guests.
  • Resolve guest complaints with courtesy and respect.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Avoid use of personal cell phone while on the sales floor.
  • Stock shelves and check price tags as needed.
  • Monitor checkout station, ensuring all needed tools are in stock.
  • Prepare assigned areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations.
  • Perform other projects and tasks assigned by management.
  • Maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit and in some cases, a valid Food Handlers Permit.

Requirements

  • Must be over the age of 21.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be available to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and must be available 80% or more of all shifts each week.
  • Must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit and in some cases, a valid Food Handlers Permit.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools.
  • Must be able to push and/or pull 50-100 pounds or more occasionally.
  • Physical attendance based on a schedule made by management which may vary week to week based on the needs of the business.

Skills

  • Cashiering experience preferred
  • Reading, comprehension, and writing simple instructions or memos
  • Communication with and understanding of coworkers and guests
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in both whole numbers and in fractions and decimals
