About the Role
Forest Electric NY is seeking a detail-oriented Electrical Project Engineer to develop and manage detailed 3D models of electrical systems for commercial projects using Revit and AutoCAD.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage detailed 3D models of electrical systems for commercial projects using Revit and AutoCAD
- Coordinate with other trades (e.g., mechanical, plumbing, structural) to ensure proper integration of electrical systems using Navisworks for 3D coordination and clash detection
- Attend on-site and virtual coordination meetings with General Contractor and other trades
- Create detailed installation drawings for all electrical system components including equipment, conduit, and supports
- Collaborate and communicate with team members to ensure project goals are met
- Verify that drawings and installations comply with applicable codes and specifications
- Perform electrical load calculations, ampacity adjustments, and voltage drop analysis to ensure reliability and compliance with codes
- Conduct project site visits to gather necessary data for accurate drafting and documentation
- Regular, predictable, and reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of the job
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a high-volume contractor design and drafting environment or a Bachelor’s in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
- Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting
- Ability to interpret and translate construction drawings
- Proven ability to design and draft basic electrical systems
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
