About the Role

Drive commercial growth and revenue generation by identifying, qualifying, and advancing opportunities from early discovery through client execution, building and managing a robust pipeline across U.S. and Canadian asset owners. This role requires demonstrating how your work fits into the broader strategy and leveraging your network in other functions and at a senior leadership level to ensure strategic alignment and buy-in.

Responsibilities

  • Drive commercial growth and revenue generation by identifying, qualifying, and advancing opportunities from early discovery through client execution, building and managing a robust pipeline across U.S. and Canadian asset owners.
  • Demonstrate how your work fits into the broader strategy and leverage your network in other functions and at a senior leadership level to ensure strategic alignment and buy-in.
  • Lead client coverage and business development by managing and expanding existing client relationships, actively prospecting new asset owners, and developing multi-threaded coverage with investment staff and key influencers.
  • Deliver a consultative, solutions-based approach linking client objectives to S&P DJI capabilities across equities, fixed income, factors, thematic, multi-asset, private markets, and sustainability.
  • Articulate market trends and act as an expert, coaching others on complex matters.
  • Orchestrate solutions and enable implementation by partnering across a matrixed organization to deliver high-quality outcomes and ensure commercial objectives translate into implementable, licensed solutions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders outside of your own immediate unit/area/geography and incorporate diverse perspectives.
  • Drive thought leadership, education, and market presence by increasing awareness and adoption through client education, targeted outreach, and event engagement.
  • Bring relevant index research, analytics, and market insights into client dialogue.
  • Represent S&P DJI at industry forums in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Maintain operational rigor and governance by demonstrating disciplined outreach, meeting management, pipeline reporting, forecasting practices, and sound judgment in licensing-related discussions, documentation, and execution processes.
  • Act as an escalation point.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in institutional commercial roles (sales, solutions, consulting, relationship management) within indexing, asset management, financial data/technology, or related institutional markets.
  • Proven success and strong understanding of the asset owner ecosystem and decision-making processes, including governance structures, consultant influence, and benchmark selection dynamics and investment structures.
  • Demonstrated ability to position and differentiate index solutions and to translate client needs into revenue-generating licensing outcomes.
  • Highly consultative selling skills with the ability to engage senior investment leaders and influence outcomes in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Ability to adapt communication style to different situations and effectively respond to adversity.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation) and the presence to operate as a trusted partner to sophisticated institutions.
  • Ability to recognize emotions, strengths, and weaknesses in yourself and others, and navigate these areas to create the best outcome.
  • High collaboration and influence skills within a matrix organization, able to align cross-functional teams to deliver client outcomes on time.
  • Ability to build consensus across groups with competing priorities.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and execution discipline.
  • Comfort operating with autonomy while maintaining transparency, rigor, and internal alignment.
  • Ability to plan and manage competing priorities and the resources required to deliver on them.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to ~50% across the U.S. and Canada.

Salary/Compensations

  • $175,000 to $205,000
