About the Role

The VP, Portfolio Management, Investing & Oversight is accountable for the end‑to‑end digital experience that enables how portfolios are constructed, managed, monitored, and reviewed across Richardson Wealth and IA Private Wealth. This role bridges Investments, Advisory, Compliance, Operations, Data, and Technology to deliver a modern, compliant, and scalable investment and portfolio management experience for advisors and clients. The focus is not product management of investment solutions, but rather how investment and portfolio management comes to life digitally across advisor and client journeys. The VP plays a critical leadership role in advancing the Wealth businesses’ digital strategy, improving advisor productivity, strengthening compliance‑by‑design, and elevating the client experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the digital investment and portfolio management experience across advisor and client channels, from proposal through ongoing portfolio management and review.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to define and continuously improve advisor workflows for portfolio construction, model selection, IPS creation, alignment, suitability validation, rebalancing, ongoing portfolio maintenance, and performance, risk, and fee transparency.
  • Ensure the client facing experience clearly communicates portfolio insights, performance, and progress toward goals.
  • Partner with teams to digitize model portfolio management, including model lifecycle governance, change notifications, advisor workflows, and embedded controls for drift, risk tolerance, and concentration.
  • Enable scalable portfolio management capabilities such as tax aware rebalancing, householding, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Embed regulatory and suitability requirements directly into digital journeys, ensuring compliance by design.
  • Partner closely with Compliance, Risk, and Legal to ensure auditability of advice and portfolio decisions, clear evidence of client acknowledgement and disclosures, and automated exception reporting and resolution workflows.
  • Define portfolio analytics and insights delivered digitally, including risk, performance, asset allocation, and portfolio diagnostics.
  • Partner with Data & Architecture and other key stakeholder teams to establish standards for benchmarks, security master data, pricing, and performance calculation.
  • Leverage data to deliver actionable insights for advisors at the book and household level.
  • Align portfolio management workflows with trading, operations, and custody platforms to improve straight through processing and reduce manual effort.
  • Partner with Operations and Technology to reduce exceptions and NIGO rates, improve advice to execution timelines, and enhance reliability and scalability of portfolio related platforms.
  • Act as a senior thought partner to Wealth leadership on digital investment and portfolio strategy.
  • Lead cross functional forums and decision making across Investments, Advisory, Technology, Compliance, Data, and Operations.
  • Influence at the Director and VP level without direct authority, aligning diverse stakeholders around shared outcomes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in wealth management, investment platforms, digital product leadership, or portfolio related roles within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Deep understanding of portfolio management concepts, advisory workflows, and dealer operations (including suitability, KYC/IPS, and regulatory obligations).
  • Proven experience leading cross functional digital initiatives that span business, technology, compliance, and operations.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence senior leaders and navigate complex stakeholder landscapes.
  • Experience within a Canadian investment dealer or private wealth firm.
  • Exposure to model portfolios, discretionary/advisory platforms, or managed account structures.
  • Familiarity with portfolio management, trading, or performance reporting systems.
  • Experience modernizing legacy advisor or investment platforms at scale.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong bias toward practical execution.
  • Deeply client and advisor centric, focused on simplifying complex workflows.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving clarity across competing priorities.
  • Strong governance mindset paired with modern digital thinking.
  • Collaborative leader who builds trust across first, second, and third lines.
