About the Role

This program offers online and on-the-floor training to become a Nurse Aide. Employees demonstrating strong customer service, reliability, teamwork, and work ethic are eligible for education assistance to become a Certified Nurse Aide. Paid on-the-job training is provided at no cost through various avenues, including onsite classes, community college programs, or internships with a skills check and practice exam.

Responsibilities

  • Provide residents with comfort and safety, detecting and reporting potential accidents or injuries.
  • Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with resident care policy and procedure.
  • Assist with daily living requirements such as bathing, feeding, dressing, observing intake, hair/nail care, moving residents, lifting, and transferring.
  • Utilize and log care provided into the Electronic Medical Records system.
  • Measure and record vital signs.
  • Observe and report resident symptoms, reactions, and changes in condition to nursing staff.
  • Maintain care of equipment and supplies.
  • Walk with ambulatory residents or push in a wheelchair as required.
  • Safely perform movements such as pushing, pulling, lifting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and lifting in excess of 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Answer call lights promptly, addressing resident needs or determining if Charge Nurse assistance is required.
  • Provide tactful and appropriate communication in sensitive and emotional situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Administrator or Nurse Management.
  • Work as a Hospitality Aide for a minimum of two weeks prior to beginning the Nurse Aide class, assisting the care team with supportive, non-clinical duties.
  • Answer call lights as a Hospitality Aide.
  • Make beds and assist with maintaining resident rooms as a Hospitality Aide.
  • Pass water and support resident comfort as a Hospitality Aide.
  • Pass trays in the dining hall as a Hospitality Aide.
  • Assist staff with basic resident needs that do not require certification as a Hospitality Aide.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is highly preferred.
  • Experience as a caregiver is preferred.
  • Good communication skills.
