About the Role
The Control Functions team within IT Delivery is responsible for developing bespoke systems, reporting solutions, and integrations to meet business needs in areas like valuation, risk management, financial control, and regulatory compliance. The team utilizes a Microsoft technical stack with both on-premise and Azure cloud functions, requiring a developer to understand the commodity trading business context and possess strong IT software engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop bespoke systems, reporting solutions, and integrations.
- Enhance existing applications and develop new solutions with a focus on database development and .Net application layer.
- Be involved in analysis, planning, and evaluating outcomes.
- Contribute to improving the development process and participate in evolving roadmaps.
- Use technology appropriately and flexibly, aligning with company strategy.
- Adhere to company standards and best practices, including documentation, testing, and peer reviews.
- Maintain development infrastructure, source code repository, and continuous build/deployment facilities.
- Seek opportunities for innovation by staying updated with technology trends.
- Engage with business or business analysts to define requirements and form solutions.
- Provide technical advice to business users.
- Collaborate with other IT delivery members to progress EDFT IT technology stack and development processes.
- Stay informed about industry technological developments and identify opportunities for new implementations.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-6 years of experience in design and implementation of bespoke software solutions.
- Previous experience in a development role working closely with both IT and business customers.
- Experience in the design and construction of software/application solutions.
- Understanding of software development patterns and their common applications.
- Ability to work with business and technical stakeholders to deliver suitable solutions.
- Knowledge of application development methodologies to create business-focused software solutions.
- Strong knowledge of database architecture and design backed by commercial experience.
- Strong business intelligence and data visualization skills within the Microsoft domain.
- Experience in designing and building distributed systems using Microsoft C#, .NET Core and Web API.
- Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle or SQL Server.
- Experience with deploying applications to Cloud infrastructure such as Azure.
- Understanding of Agile Development (SCRUM, Kanban).
- Understanding of automated continuous integration pipeline, including automated deployment.
