About the Role
The Indigenous Pathways program is a 9-month, full-time learning and development opportunity designed to support First Nations, Inuit, or Métis individuals in honing their professional skills at CBC. This specific role is with the CBC Docs digital team, focusing on how commissioned documentaries are presented online, on social media, YouTube, and CBC Gem. It offers hands-on experience in documentary storytelling and understanding audience reach.
Responsibilities
- Explore multi-platform storytelling through writing, imagery, and sound.
- Create content that connects with Indigenous audiences and reflects diverse perspectives.
- Build meaningful relationships with mentors, trainers, peers, and Indigenous colleagues.
- Gain valuable professional experience.
Requirements
- Must be First Nations, Inuit, or Métis.
- Have a deep interest in digital and video storytelling.
- Eager to gain practical, hands-on experience at CBC.
- Interested in developing technical skills.
- Some experience with shooting, editing, or publishing video for any platform.
- A critical thinker who demonstrates strong ethics and integrity.
- A collaborative communicator and team player.
- Familiarity with digital publishing and social media.
- Experience with documentary or other unscripted storytelling.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
- Candidates who advance will be asked to complete a background check, including a mandatory Criminal record check.
- Must adhere to the CBC/Radio-Canada Code of Conduct.
- Must inform about any potential conflict of interest.
