About the Role

Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) seeks a Tutor to support the Academic Support Unit. The Tutor will help provide structured academic support and guidance to students, ensuring they meet or exceed grade-level standards. Tutors must motivate students, set a positive example, and take an active interest in student well-being.

Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one and in small groups with students to provide academic intervention.
• Partner with Academic Support Team to develop and implement instructional strategies.
• Regularly provide and/or exchange student information with program staff.
• Document all tutoring sessions in the Tutor Log, detailing student interactions, achievements, and potential concerns.
• Periodically administer assessments and collaborate with staff to analyze scores.
• Perform other duties assigned.

Requirements

• A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to create basic lesson plans preferred.
• Familiarity with Common Core Standards is a huge plus.
• Must be able to motivate and maintain students' interest.
• Must set a positive example in all areas, including timeliness, attendance, and professionalism.
• Must take a sincere, active, and appropriate interest in the well-being of all students.
• Do not provide work visas for candidates who require employer sponsorship to ensure work authorization in the United States.
