About the Role

The Laboratory Coordinator assists in the oversight of the daily operations of the Central Labs, directing workflow and distributing tasks to Research Laboratory Technicians. This role ensures appropriate lab coverage, efficient and accurate sample processing and freezing, and proper documentation. The position also involves shipping specimens according to safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee technicians in blood and urine areas to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
  • Prevent and minimize the occurrence of protocol violations.
  • Ensure safety requirements are adhered to when handling and processing samples.
  • Pack and ship specimens to clients and/or other labs, ensuring safety and security per policies and regulations.
  • Perform duties of a blood harvester, urine monitor, and urine processor as needed.
  • Audit Blood Harvest Logs to ensure correct handling of study samples per protocol specifications and/or procedures.
  • Review logs for clerical errors and proper completion.
  • Verify and document the presence of all blood and urine samples at the end of each study interval.
  • Act as Lab liaison on specific studies as directed by supervisor.
  • Interact with Study Teams, Project Managers, and other non-lab staff to ensure protocol requirements for the lab are followed.
  • Occasionally communicate with clients, explaining PK lab functions and activities.
  • Maintain records of completed temperature and maintenance checks for all laboratory equipment.
  • Determine equipment and supply needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate lab processes, identify areas for improvement, and make recommendations for alternative systems to improve performance quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualification.
  • Technical positions may require a certificate.
  • Previous experience providing the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to at least 2 years) or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.
  • Knowledge of human physiology and metabolism.
  • Knowledge of lab instrumentation and testing procedures.
  • Detail-oriented mindset.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • General computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under constant exposure to high pressure, intense concentration.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
