About the Role

iGaming Ontario is seeking a Privacy Officer to join its dynamic team within the Legal and Governance department. This role is key to ensuring compliance with privacy laws and regulations, policies, and addressing privacy issues in collaboration with the Senior Privacy Officer.

Responsibilities

• Participate in projects to ensure privacy issues are a central consideration.
• Solicit and elicit administrative, technical, and physical information from subject matter experts.
• Critically evaluate systems, legislative duties, safeguards, and access controls to protect personal information.
• Review project approaches, procedures, policies, associated materials, and safeguards to provide expert input.
• Assist in drafting internal Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), revise PIAs before implementation, and create addendums after implementation.
• Review and approve external PIAs to ensure legislative compliance and best practices.
• Conduct research and develop materials as required.
• Assist the Senior Privacy Officer with privacy compliance administration, including responding to privacy incidents.
• Maintain a privacy risk reporting system.
• Monitor the Privacy inbox and respond to operator inquiries.
• Maintain a system for reporting breaches and PIA risk management.

Requirements

• University Degree in a relevant field (Public Administration, Information Science).
• Certified Information Privacy Professional for Canada (CIPP/C) and/or Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) is an asset.
• Some experience with Privacy Legislation (Federal and Provincial) and CASL.
• Demonstrated understanding of legislation and regulatory frameworks (Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, PIPEDA, GDPR) and their applicability in the iGaming Ontario environment.
• Knowledge of Information and Information Technology concepts impacting personal information protection, including Internet tools, system interfaces, cybersecurity, information/data architecture, data integration, and data flows.
• Familiarity with the gaming industry, including knowledge of casino gambling and sports wagering, is an asset.
• Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, discretion, and tact in dealing with employees and external stakeholders.
• Excellent organizational skills, proven ability to set priorities, and ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for information gathering, advising on decisions, and formulating correspondence.
• Moderate knowledge and experience using various software programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, MS Project, MS Visio, SharePoint, Monday).
• Must be eligible to work in Canada.
• Will be subject to a criminal background check.
