About the Role

Inns of Aurora is seeking part-time programming hosts and guides to lead guest activities. You can host existing activities or propose your own ideas. Current offerings include historical, artistic, and architectural walking tours, guided hikes, and boat tours. Guests are interested in outdoor adventure, wine tasting, wellness, and workshops. This role is part-time with variable hours based on availability and need.

Responsibilities

  • Host and lead outdoor guest activities including hikes, archery, wildlife observation, and nature-based programming.
  • Facilitate private outdoor programming for individuals, groups, and retreats.
  • Lead guided hikes up to approximately 3 miles, sharing information about the landscape, ecology, and local history.
  • Monitor and assess weather conditions to ensure guest safety during outdoor activities.
  • Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Create welcoming and engaging guest interactions, fostering repeat participation through relationship building.
  • Maintain the outdoor trail network through mowing, vegetation management, spreading wood chips, and assisting with tree removal.
  • Operate and maintain outdoor equipment, including UTVs for trail work and activity setup.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and scheduled maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment, including weekly UTV cleaning during muddy seasons.
  • Assist with winter operations, including plowing and salting driveways and pathways.
  • Step in to host activities when staffing gaps arise.
  • Maintain accurate records related to programming and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot unexpected operational challenges, such as equipment malfunctions during guest activities.
  • Respond quickly and calmly to resolve issues while maintaining a positive guest experience.
  • Support a wide range of operational needs as a 'jack-of-all-trades' for outdoor programming.
  • Perform basic carpentry repairs and maintenance for outdoor infrastructure, including platforms, bridges, and kiosks.

Requirements

  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends, with some weekday openings potentially available.
  • Strong understanding of guest expectations in a luxury resort or hospitality setting.
  • Ability to participate in outdoor and physically demanding activities.
  • Comfortable working in both office and outdoor environments in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
