About the Role
We are seeking to fill the position of Activities Assistant - Life Enrichment - Recreation Leader. This role involves leading programs and assisting residents within a faith-based, nonprofit skilled geriatric care facility.
Responsibilities
- Lead a program of arts, crafts, and recreation.
- Introduce new projects and activities and encourages resident involvement.
- Assist with resident transport and attend to resident needs during entertainment or outside programs.
- Assure proper care, use, storage and protection of tools and equipment.
- Complete activity assessments.
- Maintain daily attendance/participation of residents.
- Attend recommended workshops, in-services, meetings.
Requirements
- Previous recreation / activities experience with a geriatric population preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- Prompt, professional, reliable and a team player.
- Able to read, write and speak the English language.
- Able to push wheelchairs.
- Able to be around animals (pets).
- Ability to work with dementia population.
- MDS knowledge a plus.
