About the Role

Spectrum Health & Human Services partners with individuals to support their recovery from behavioral, emotional, mental health, and substance-related disorders by offering opportunities for hope, empowerment, and support to achieve self-defined improvements in their quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate agency core values in day-to-day activities
  • Provide advocacy, outreach, and engagement
  • Utilize self-help tools
  • Offer peer recovery supports and peer counseling
  • Provide transitional supports
  • Deliver pre-crisis and crisis support services
  • Offer engagement, peer bridge services, and services to assist individuals transitioning between service systems or settings
  • Promote self-advocacy and self-efficacy
  • Facilitate community connections and natural supports
  • Assist individuals with goals of independent living skills
  • Serve as a positive role model by sharing personal recovery experiences
  • Assist individuals in achieving goals outlined in their Individualized Action Plans
  • Utilize electronic data systems, including electronic records and computers
  • Assist individuals in developing a WRAP plan
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License
  • Must have a vehicle with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be a current or former recipient of behavioral health services

Skills

  • Proficient in computer software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Desktop Publishing, Outlook)
  • Ability to engage and connect with individuals with behavioral health disorders and their families
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Ability to develop a WRAP and/or Wellness Management and Recovery plan
  • Cognitive Behavioral Motivational Enhancement Therapy

Experience Level

  • One (1) year of work-related experience preferred

Education Level

  • NYCPS Certified Peer Specialist Credential
  • OASAS Certified Peer Advocate Credential (CRPA)

Salary/Compensations

  • $23.00-$25.00/HOURLY
