About the Role
Zurich Middle Markets is seeking an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter to join their Private Equity P&C practice in New York City. This role is for an experienced underwriter passionate about delivering risk solutions and acting as a trusted advisor to brokers and clients.
Responsibilities
- Build, develop, and maintain strong relationships with broker partners and customers.
- Apply expertise in risk assessment, exposure analysis, and pricing to manage a profitable book of business.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with claims, finance, risk engineering, actuarial, and technical underwriting teams.
- Leverage technical underwriting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow relationships with preferred distribution partners.
- Gain deep exposure to a fast-growing, innovative segment of Middle Markets insurance.
Requirements
- Underwriting Specialist: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles OR 6+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support roles OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles OR 4+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support roles.
- Executive Underwriter: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles OR 10+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support roles OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles OR 8+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support roles.
- Knowledge of line/s of business and legal/regulatory guidelines.
- Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred).
- Established relationships with Private Equity broker partners (Preferred).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (Preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Preferred).

- Underwriting Specialist: $94,800.00 - $155,100.00
- Executive Underwriter: $125,300.00 - $205,100.00
- Combined range: $94,800.00 - $205,100.00
