About the Role
Mariana Minerals is seeking a Global Sourcing Manager to oversee procurement for new projects and pre-operational sites. This senior role requires extensive technical and commercial experience in industrial procurement to establish supply agreements and vendor relationships before site activation. The position involves managing operating supplies, consumables, and non-construction capital expenditures.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to define procurement needs and translate technical specifications into sourcing scope.
- Manage the complete pre-operational procurement cycle: vendor qualification, RFQ processes, negotiation, purchasing, and first delivery management.
- Procure operating supplies, consumables (reagents, spare parts), and non-construction capital items (mobile equipment).
- Ensure contract compliance and alignment with enterprise policies before execution.
- Develop and maintain vendor relationships through the pre-operational phase, ensuring a smooth handover to on-site procurement teams.
- Provide support for complex purchases, high-value negotiations, and new project scopes at operational sites.
- Lead cross-site sourcing initiatives to achieve volume-based cost savings.
- Contribute quote data and supplier information to the organization's market intelligence database.
- Coordinate with site and project teams to ensure supply continuity during startup and operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a related technical field, or equivalent technical depth through experience.
- 8-12+ years of experience in procurement, project procurement, or capital purchasing within mining, industrials, chemicals, or a related sector.
- Demonstrated success in managing pre-operational or greenfield site procurement from specification to first delivery.
- Strong technical understanding to interpret specifications and engage with engineering teams.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a proven ability to secure favorable terms independently.
- High organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent procurement workstreams.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments with limited structure.
- Proficiency in software tools for project tracking, workstream management, and reporting.
