About the Role

Wells Fargo is seeking an International Tax Operations Specialist to drive the governance, oversight, and execution of tax-related operational processes across international markets. This role involves managing transaction taxes, withholding taxes, capital gains taxes, tax documentation, and regulatory reporting, while partnering with various stakeholders to strengthen the tax operating framework, enhance controls, and deliver scalable solutions. The position offers broad exposure to businesses, jurisdictions, and products, focusing on high-impact initiatives for international tax operations.

Responsibilities

  • Execute current tax operating models and identify opportunities for increased efficiency, control enhancement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure operational processes align with evolving tax regulations and business requirements, particularly in EMEA jurisdictions like German MikaDiv and EU FASTER.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to review and assess international tax obligations, perform analysis, control risks, and suggest remediation for applicable Wells Fargo entities.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to tax-related workflows, procedures, controls, and operating practices.
  • Ensure accuracy and timely completeness of tax payments for Financial Transaction Taxes to relevant tax authorities.
  • Support strategic projects aimed at enhancing the international tax operating model.
  • Partner with CIB Markets Front Office teams to address tax impacts from trading activity and collateral movements.
  • Review New Business Initiatives for potential International Tax processing impact and partner with stakeholders for implementation.
  • Review proposed tax changes from international tax authorities and ensure effective compliance with new regulations.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders to facilitate effective execution of tax operational objectives.
  • Assist in managing internal audits of international tax processes while maintaining governance documentation, procedures, and audit-ready evidence.
  • Review collateral-related tax flows and analyze withholding tax implications associated with collateral activities.

Requirements

  • Strong experience within Tax Operations, Investment Operations, or Custody/Asset Services Operations.
  • Knowledge of US IRS tax documentation and reporting requirements, international withholding tax, tax reporting, transaction taxes, and regulatory tax compliance requirements.
  • Experience performing process reviews, control assessments, and operational risk management activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills across multiple business functions and geographic regions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a complex, regulated environment.
