About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled, technically proficient and detail-oriented Principal Rack Integration Engineer to lead the architecture, integration, and delivery of advanced air and liquid‑cooled server and network switch solutions for large-scale deployments. This role is critical in translating hyperscale data center requirements into robust, scalable, and manufacturable systems for next-gen AI/ML, cloud infrastructure, and network deployments. This person will oversee end‑to‑end rack development – from scoping and initial architecture review of customer requirements, through validation and deployment. This person will also drive cross‑functional collaboration, technical innovation, and continuous improvement across multiple datacenter programs.

Responsibilities

Lead complex, multi‑disciplinary hardware programs, coordinating mechanical, thermal, electrical, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
Align requirements, drive schedules, and ensure successful delivery of integrated rack, network, and cooling solutions.
Develop and maintain bill of materials (BOMs), cable BOMs, alternate sourcing strategies, test plans, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
Assemble, fit‑check, and mechanically integrate complex rack systems, including liquid loop components, quick‑disconnects, manifolds, and power distribution.
Manage relationships with mechanical L11 component vendors, including rack, PDUs, switches, cables, and packaging solutions.
Lead L11 rack shock and vibration qualification efforts, partnering with third-party test laboratories.
Create technical documentation, including rack assembly instructions, 2D mechanical drawings, test reports, SOPs, and customer‑facing specifications.
Participate in customer engagements and site visits to understand deployment constraints and gather feedback for design improvements.
Lead the specification and validation of rack‑level power architecture, including PDU selection and power budget calculations.
Understand rack installation constraints, maintenance access, and serviceability in rack mechanical infrastructure.
Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for mechanical failures or field issues.
Collaborate with compliance and certification teams to ensure mechanical designs meet global regulatory requirements.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related background plus hands-on experience.
Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in mechanical systems integration/rack integration.
Experience could include high-density server, network switches, and/or rack design and integration, including end-to-end delivery for large-scale deployments worldwide.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, integration strategies, and program management.
Familiar with stage-gate processes in project lifecycle management (PLCM).
Ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 30%.

Review and validate rack-level mechanical architectures (EIA 19” and ORV3), including airflow paths, liquid cooling integration/mounting, structural load considerations, fiber/network/power cable routing, and space optimization.
Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication and testing.
Experience working with global suppliers and contract manufacturers (CM) a plus.
Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo/Pro-E, Inventor) and FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
High level knowledge of fluid dynamics, pressure drop calculations, and pipe sizing for glycol-based systems.

$132,400 - $238,400
