About the Role

The Echo Technologist - Inpatient operates the Echocardiography Lab and supports the Stress Lab. The Technologist uses proper sonographic techniques and departmental protocols to demonstrate patient anatomy and pathology for physician interpretation. This role performs all cardiac and neonate cranial studies and handles clerical functions for data preparation and medical record reporting. Additional duties within the scope of the role may be assigned.

Responsibilities

Operation of the Echocardiography Lab
Support of Stress Lab
Utilize proper sonographic technique in conjunction with departmental protocols to demonstrate pertinent patient anatomy and pathology
Perform all cardiac and neonate cranial studies
Perform clerical functions associated with preparation of data for physician interpretation and reporting to the medical record

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent required
Graduate of a School of Diagnostic Ultrasound preferred
Active ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer certification or CCI Registered Cardiac Sonographer required
BLS required
Must possess reasoning ability and good independent judgment
Must have the ability to work within rigid time constraints
Must be aware of patient conditions at all times
Must demonstrate effective communication skills
Position requires 10% light work (lifting 20lbs max.) involving committee meetings and work performed at a desk handling administrative duties
90% of the work is lifting carrying pushing and pulling of patients, equipment and supplies while preparing and performing studies
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and balance are needed to setup and adjust equipment and in the positioning of patients
Continuously exhibits manual dexterity, mobility and ability to hear and distinguish colors
Continuous ability to communicate effectively
Occasionally push, pulls or lift up to 150 lbs
Continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person
Visual acuity, both far (clarity up to 20 feet) and near (clarity to 20 inches) and distinguish color is vital to all aspects of these duties
Must be able to listen and respond to instructions from physician and staff
Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
Minimal noise levels
Much exposure to computer work
Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock
Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks
Some exposure to hazardous chemicals
Occasional exposure to radiation
