About the Role

BDO's Private Client Team advises HNW and SHNW individuals, families, and entrepreneurs on navigating the complexities of the US tax system, offering a unique advisory service that combines US expertise with international requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead client relationships with a proactive advisory approach and adaptable manner.
  • Provide in-depth experience and understanding of working with families and entrepreneurs, delivering dual US/UK advisory memos on tax planning, succession, trusts, structuring, and pensions.
  • Demonstrate wide experience with the UK/US treaty.
  • Exhibit advanced understanding of complex foreign tax credit scenarios and planning solutions.
  • Show an established record of winning work.
  • Maintain a reputation in the marketplace and familiarity working with legal and financial professionals supporting UHNW individuals.
  • Sign out complex UK and US tax returns, including specific forms.
  • Present internally and externally on US PCS tax matters.
  • Form strong collaborative relationships with other teams on projects.
  • Assist in training and developing junior team members in US advisory skills.
  • Utilize people management skills to support and influence the improvement of US PCS strategic offering.
  • Develop a fast-growing US/UK Private Client practice.
  • Find practical solutions, collaborate effectively, and demonstrate initiative and resilience with challenging work.

Requirements

  • US Enrolled Agent (EA) and ATT qualifications required as a minimum.
  • CTA qualification is ideally desired.
  • Broad base of US and UK private client experience working with UHNW families and their family offices.
  • Extensive experience delivering written advisory reports.
  • Strong capabilities to lead, manage, and sign off complex projects with partner support.
  • Ability to resolve US and foreign matters involving clients, advisors, and the global network.
  • Passion to make a significant impact within a small, fast-growing, dynamic team.
