About the Role

We are looking for a full-time lawyer to support the Shoppers Drug Mart (SDM) business, including its affiliated health and wellness businesses such as Lifemark and Specialty Health Network. SDM has adopted a hybrid working model, with 4 days in the office and 1 day remote. This position is based primarily in our North York office at 243 Consumers Road, with the option to work out of Loblaw’s downtown Toronto and Brampton offices as well.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial, technology and pharmacy-related agreements, including SaaS, data sharing, supply and distribution, and professional services agreements.
  • Provide the business with counsel on various pharmacy and health professions regulatory matters, strategic initiatives, projects, and transactions.
  • Provide guidance to, and liaise with, external legal counsel, as needed.
  • Work closely with other members of the SDM Legal team to continuously improve templates, processes, and create efficiencies.
  • Be an active participant within the SDM Legal team, including participation in committees of interest.
  • Personally demonstrate and foster within the SDM Legal team a culture of excellence that reflects SDM values.

Requirements

  • Member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario with 2-4 years of relevant post-call experience in a large law firm or in-house environment.
  • Experience in technology law, with the ability to draft and negotiate complex commercial and technology-related agreements.
  • A self-starter who takes a proactive, creative approach to risk management and legal problem solving, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage projects with minimal supervision.
  • Strong business acumen, with a demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • A team player with the ability to work collaboratively and to build relationships across the business.

Skills

  • Experience with AI and privacy matters is an asset.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy and health professions regulations is an asset.
  • Fluent bilingualism in written and spoken French is an asset.
