About the Role
The Evening Library Assistant role is based at the main Northampton Square Library during term-time, supporting core library services at the help desk, assisting with online resources, and managing library collections. This role involves supervising a small team and maintaining the library study environment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the smooth delivery of core services at the library help desk.
- Answer reference and procedural enquiries.
- Deliver circulation functions.
- Assist with library equipment.
- Support the online library enquiry service.
- Perform shelving and collection management tasks.
- Supervise a small team delivering library services.
- Oversee and maintain the library study environment.
- Liaise with colleagues, including Security staff, during evening and weekend opening.
Requirements
- Relevant experience, preferably in an academic library setting.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to supervise a team and foster a collaborative approach to work.
- Ability to give clear guidance and instructions to colleagues.
- Ability to liaise with colleagues in the library and other University teams.
