About the Role

A team-minded and solution-orientated leader with expert communication skills who will provide support to the Housekeeping team. A detail-oriented professional who aims to constantly improve guest and employee experience and exceed operational and financial goals.

Responsibilities

  • Encourages a team-minded culture and serves as a role model.
  • Conducts orientation and in-service training on company policies, OSHA standards, guest satisfaction, and equipment usage.
  • Coaches and provides feedback to the housekeeping team, encouraging a growth mindset.
  • Creates weekly schedules for the housekeeping team and manages payroll processes.
  • Establishes housekeeping standards and procedures, maintaining knowledge of OSHA standards.
  • Upholds high standards of cleanliness, safety, and conduct, making recommendations for service/efficiency improvements.
  • Inspects guest rooms, corridors, laundry, restrooms, and public areas.
  • Inspects vacant rooms, verifies status, and updates the team on discrepant rooms.
  • Examines the building to determine repair/replacement needs for furniture, equipment, and décor, making recommendations to management.
  • Investigates housekeeping service and equipment complaints and takes corrective action.
  • Records data including work assignments, personnel actions, time cards, and periodic reports.
  • Manages housekeeping inventory, including purchasing, re-ordering, and maintaining supplies.
  • Attends staff meetings representing the guest and employee voice.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of management experience in hotel housekeeping, luxury properties preferred.
  • Experience with the NY Local 6 Union.
  • Thorough understanding of Forbes Travel Guide and its standards.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and stand throughout the shift.
  • Schedule flexibility to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with hotel needs.
  • Attend all hotel-required meetings and trainings.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive guest and colleague information.

  • Attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented approach to all encounters.
  • Proactive approach to problem resolution, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving issues.
  • Ability to contribute to short-term and long-term problem solving.
  • Establishes close working relationships with other departments for cohesive operation.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize department functions for maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Email).
