About the Role

Provide expert and timely structural engineering services across Lambeth’s Housing stock, protecting Council assets and ensuring buildings are safe and comply with Health and Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor the quality of work performed by structural engineering consultants.
  • Commission structural surveys in response to requests made by teams within the Housing Department.
  • Contract manage urgent structural repairs schemes to comply with H&S Regulations and Court Orders from inception to completion.
  • Raise the recommended remedial works provided in the structural engineer’s reports.
  • Assist Lambeth’s Legal Team as required in defending the Council’s interests in litigation cases.
  • Monitor and manage structural engineering consultant budgets.

Requirements

  • A Civil or Structural Engineering degree.
  • At least ten years’ experience in a similar role in a local authority.
  • Good knowledge of structures, structural defects in low and high-rise domestic buildings, diagnostic surveys, and remedies.
  • Knowledge of the Party Wall Etc. Act 1996.
