About the Role
Prepare nutritious, appetizing, and attractive meals while working as part of a team to ensure the smooth, efficient, and safe operation of the kitchen area in accordance with community policies and portion-control requirements.
Responsibilities
- Review menus and daily food production worksheets for instructions
- Prepare meals following community menus and recipes
- Practice community portion-control standards
- Follow safe food-handling and storage procedures
- Ensure food, supplies, and personnel are available for planned meals
- Serve nutritious, attractively garnished food in a punctual manner
- Cover, label, date, and store food while completing leftover logs
- Complete temperature logs for coolers, freezers, production sheets, and dishwashers
- Maintain sanitation standards by cleaning preparation areas, pots, pans, surfaces, walls, and floors
- Resolve resident food complaints and focus on satisfaction
- Assist with the set-up of special functions
- Maintain current food handlers permit and required certifications
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to read and prepare recipes in careful detail
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with food service sanitation practices
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work with little supervision
- Meet state-related requirements for the position
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional approach
- Ability to keep business and operations information confidential
- Ability to work under time constraints and meet deadlines
- Satisfactorily pass criminal record clearance, health screening, and TB clearance
