About the Role

The Department of Theatre & Film at The University of Mississippi invites applications for a staff Sound Designer. This role involves supervising a sound design area, conceptualizing and facilitating sound designs for departmental productions, managing sound shop budgets, and providing audio engineering support for events.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising a sound design area at a Research I University
  • Conceptualizing and facilitating sound designs for departmental productions
  • Preparing, tracking, and reconciling sound shop purchases and budgets
  • Providing support for audio engineering for each event in the department’s production facilities
  • Collaboration with colleagues across various areas of the department
  • Overseeing and maintaining the sound inventory for our production venues

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in theatrical design/technology, or a related field, as well as two years of experience related to the position is preferred
  • Four years of relevant experience required
  • An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role
  • Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis
