About the Role

The Deployment & Runtime Environments team owns how software gets packaged, deployed, and executed onboard Loft's satellites. This role involves working with Linux internals, container runtimes, and CI pipelines to ensure reliable software operation in orbit.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to and evolve the bundle management tool for assembling mission-specific software stacks.
• Develop and harden onboard Linux infrastructure, including service deployment and execution management.
• Evolve the Runtime Container Environment to securely run partner and customer workloads.
• Support scaling of the deployment pipeline with new hardware and growing satellite programs.
• Contribute to Product Validation, ensuring software readiness before orbital deployment.
• Design, implement, and refine software with a high degree of ownership.
• Participate in code reviews, design proposals, and process improvement.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar runtimes).
• Deep Linux system knowledge: boot process, service management, filesystem layout, and failure recovery.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab-CI, Jenkins, or similar).
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience with embedded or resource-constrained systems.
• Working Python.

• $144,000 - $198,000 a year
