About the Role

The SEN Caseworker will have primary responsibility for a caseload relating to a defined group of schools or geographical area, overseeing Looked After Children and managing EHC plans. The role focuses on coordinating assessments and reviews according to the Children and Families Act 2014, with a potential focus on post-18 transitions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Looked After Children both in and out of the borough.
  • Remain responsible for cases through new assessments to ceasing EHC plans.
  • Manage the effective coordination of the assessment and review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHC plans).
  • Focus on the transition of young persons into their next phase (post-18).

Requirements

  • Experience and/or knowledge of SEND legislation is essential.
  • Knowledge of financial responsibilities regarding Looked After children is essential.
  • An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) with barred list check is required.
  • Successful applicants will be required to declare if the post comes under the Childcare (Disqualification) 2009 Regulations.
