About the Role

The ANZ HSE Lead is responsible for leading and growing Turner & Townsend's Health, Safety and Environment Consulting capability across Australia and New Zealand. This role focuses on developing market-leading HSE advisory services, building client relationships, and driving business growth. It also provides HSE governance, technical assurance, incident management oversight, and continuous improvement support for service delivery across the region, ensuring consistent HSE standards and high-quality client outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the ANZ HSE Consulting capability, establishing and growing Health, Safety and Environment advisory services across key sectors.
  • Act as the executive sponsor and technical lead for HSE consulting services, supporting strategic growth objectives.
  • Develop and implement a growth strategy to expand HSE consulting services target sectors across ANZ.
  • Collaborate with Business Unit Leaders and Client Account Managers to identify, pursue and win HSE-related opportunities.
  • Deliver proposals, tenders, client presentations and solution development activities with specialist HSE expertise.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic HSE guidance and leadership across programmes and projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry bodies, regulators and key stakeholders.
  • Promote technical excellence and consistency in delivery of HSE consulting services throughout the region.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for HSE governance across both Principal and PMC delivery environments.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the HSE Management System, policies, procedures and standards across the ANZ region.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Australian and New Zealand health, safety and environmental legislation and company requirements.
  • Provide timely advice and reporting to Executive and Operational Leadership on HSE performance, trends, emerging risks and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead investigations into Serious Incidents (SIF) and Potential Serious Incidents (PSIF), ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
  • Oversee incident reporting, regulatory notifications and management reviews where required.
  • Monitor incident trends and develop proactive strategies to reduce risk and improve safety performance.
  • Coordinate lessons learned and ensure findings are communicated across the organisation.
  • Partner with Risk, HR and operational teams in relation to insurance matters, injury management and return-to-work programmes.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and development to HSE personnel across the ANZ region.
  • Build organisational capability through the development and delivery of HSE training and awareness programmes.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, care and continuous improvement throughout the business.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Project Management, Risk, Legal and People teams to integrate HSE principles into all aspects of project delivery and business operations.
  • Represent Turner & Townsend at client meetings, industry forums and professional associations, promoting the organisation's HSE leadership and capabilities.

Requirements

  • At least 8 to 10 years experience as an Associate Director or Director.
  • Experience of leading project management commissions for medium, large, sized construction projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management and value engineering.
  • People management experience, particularly in the context of managing a project management team delivering a project.
