About the Role

Gallagher Bassett Canada is seeking a full-time bodily injury claims adjuster to join their Scarborough Branch. This hybrid role is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, disposition, and settlement of various types of losses including general liability, product liability, property damage, and third-party auto tort claims.

Responsibilities

• Exercises proper judgment and decision making to analyze claims exposure, determine the proper course of action, and appropriately settle the claim.
• Interacts extensively with various parties involved in the claim process.
• Negotiates with solicitors and directly with parties to resolve claims within granted authority.
• Handles claims consistent with client and corporate policies, procedures, and best practices, adhering to statutory, regulatory, and ethics requirements.
• Documents and communicates all claim activity timely and effectively to support the claim file outcome.

Requirements

• Knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices.
• Analytical skills necessary to make decisions and resolve issues inherent in handling claims.
• Ability to successfully negotiate the settlement and disposition of claims, including interpreting related documentation.
• Strong coverage skills.
• Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing environment.
• Time management skills.
• Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating professionalism.
• Strong understanding of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in conjunction with and support clients, carriers, supervisors, and other roles.
• Fully licensed in all provinces where claims are being handled or able to be licensed.
• Minimum requirement of completing CIP courses: C11, C12, C14, and C110.

Experience Level

• Experience working in commercial lines claims and retail claims environment would be an asset.
