About the Role
The Senior Communications Manager will develop and deliver bilingual internal communications supporting Gallagher's Benefits and HR Consulting (GBS) business in Canada. This role ensures alignment with organizational priorities, culture, and brand voice while fostering engagement across both divisions. It combines strategic counsel with hands-on execution, supporting leadership communications, change initiatives, and regular updates for GBS Canada.
Responsibilities
- Lead internal communications strategies for GBS Canada, aligning with leadership messages, transformation initiatives, and organizational updates.
- Balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution to deliver high-quality work on time.
- Own internal communication plans for projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business priorities, culture, and brand voice.
- Develop and deliver bilingual internal communications for Canada, including leadership messages, organizational announcements, emails, intranet content, talking points, newsletters, and presentations.
- Provide communication counsel to senior leaders and business partners on messaging, timing, and channel strategy.
- Manage the creation, review, and dissemination of internal communications for clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
- Collaborate with communications, HR, marketing, and business unit teams to ensure alignment and adoption of communication strategies.
- Manage communication tools, platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Poppulo), and calendars for supported business units.
- Apply measurement, analytics, and best practices to continuously improve communication effectiveness and employee engagement.
- Support crisis communications and client-related messaging, including M&A announcements.
- Oversee the creation of communication materials for internal and external audiences, ensuring alignment with business objectives and brand standards.
Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Canadian French and English, with strong grammar, editing, and proofreading abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex information into clear, audience-appropriate communications.
- Strong writing and editing skills for various internal channels and audiences, including newsletters, SharePoint, and email platforms.
- Ability to independently manage multiple medium to high complexity projects with competing deadlines.
- High attention to detail and strong time management and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working autonomously while building strong relationships with global and cross-functional partners.
- Experience leveraging data, analytics, and industry trends to inform communication strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools; experience with SharePoint, Poppulo, or similar platforms is an asset.
- Knowledge of AP style for consistent and professional communications.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in corporate communications or internal communications.
- Experience supporting senior leaders within a complex, matrixed organization.
- Experience in financial services, insurance brokerage, or a large global organization is an asset.
- Ability to build relationships with individuals at all levels and across all regions of the world; seeks to build trust through professional demeanor, confidence, and a strong work ethic.
- Demonstrates initiative and a commitment to continuous learning, implementing solid plans and continuous process improvements.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Engage in continuous learning—proactively seek out and apply best practices and innovations in internal communications.
- Bilingual in English and French. English is required for this position to regularly communicate with predominantly English-speaking clients in other provinces and with team members in other regions where English is the primary language.
