About the Role
This role is for a well-rounded technologist who will drive the scaling of data infrastructure within cloud environments. The Global Database Engineering Team focuses on managing relational database platforms and developing automation on cloud platforms. This engineer will be responsible for the ongoing development of database platforms, including the evaluation, certification, and packaging of relational database tools, as well as the creation and enhancement of platform automation scripts and applications, with a strong emphasis on Oracle's Exadata Cloud offerings.
Responsibilities
- Database deployment, migration and management on cloud platforms
- Developing infrastructure as code for databases and compute on cloud platforms.
- Developing automation platforms and modules to enable efficient database management and support.
- Analyzing incidents to identify root causes and enhance platforms and automation to proactively prevent issues.
- Designing and implementing platform automation tooling to reduce manual effort
Requirements
- Cloud engineering focused on deploying, migrating, and managing Oracle databases in cloud environments
- Strong programming and automation skills (Python, PL/SQL, Bash/KSH) for database and infrastructure tasks
- Infrastructure as Code expertise using Terraform and Ansible, plus CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitLab) and container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Deep Oracle DBA knowledge (11g–19c) with focus on architecture, design, and Exadata (including Cloud@Customer)
- Solid understanding of cloud-relevant infrastructure components, including servers, networking, firewalls, and enterprise storage
