About the Role
This is a key R&D role where you will make a significant contribution to the development of innovations for Honeywell’s flagship Industrial Automation System for customers worldwide. You’ll apply your strong engineering skills, knowledge of Process Control and Advanced Process Control, interest and aptitude in AI technologies, and domain experience across industries served by Honeywell, including Oil & Gas, LNG, and Mining, Minerals & Metals (MMM). Based at the Honeywell R&D Centre in Sydney, you will work on stimulating R&D projects as part of Honeywell’s global Industrial Automation engineering community, while enjoying a hybrid working environment that supports flexibility and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop next-generation software-based industrial automation solutions using advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), to enhance process control, operational efficiency, and system reliability.
- Collaborate closely with Systems Architecture, User Experience (UX), and cross-functional engineering teams to conceptualize, design, and deliver innovative software products for industrial automation applications.
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, coding, testing, deployment, and ongoing product improvements.
- Partner with R&D teams and customers to support new product introductions and ensure solutions meet technical requirements and business objectives.
- Develop scalable, secure, and high-performance software applications that improve automation capabilities and customer operational outcomes across process industries.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to understand operational challenges, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and drive product innovation.
- Perform software quality assurance activities, including code reviews, troubleshooting, testing, and performance optimization to maintain high product standards.
- Support global engineering teams in delivering complex software integrations and advanced automation solutions while promoting knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
Requirements
- Strong engineering, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a passion for innovation.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong knowledge of software development practices and real-time systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively to achieve product development milestones.
