About the Role

This position develops and executes sourcing strategies for pharmaceutical contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) to ensure reliable supply, competitive costs, and high quality standards. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Supply Chain, Technical Operations, Finance, and Regulatory teams to secure strategic external manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic relationships with CMOs to improve cost, quality, delivery performance, and innovation for an annual spend of $60-70M.
  • Conduct regular business reviews and monitor KPIs, performance metrics, and contractual compliance.
  • Develop and execute cost-saving initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
  • Perform cost modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Negotiate supply agreements, pricing structures, service levels, and commercial terms.
  • Ensure contract lifecycle management, renewal processes, and change control adherence.
  • Cooperate with internal procurement teams to identify synergies and unlock supplier value.
  • Build leverage and develop sourcing strategies with global, regional, and local suppliers.
  • Screen product base and design re-sourcing strategies including insourcing, transfer, and consolidation.
  • Lead Supplier Relationship Management for assigned CMOs.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure GMP compliant supplier qualification and audit readiness.
  • Support TechOps and R&D on technology transfers, scale-up activities, and new product introductions.
  • Work with Supply Chain on capacity planning, forecasting, risk mitigation, and business continuity.
  • Drive compliance with procurement processes, procedures, and best practices.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or equivalent.
  • 7–10+ years of procurement experience, ideally in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, regulatory requirements, and pharmaceutical production processes including FDF, API, and packaging.
  • Extensive experience in contract negotiation and supplier management.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time pressure.
  • Strong command of English.
