About the Role

LightSpeed Japan Studio is a game development studio dedicated to crafting original AAA action game titles for global audiences. Led by industry veteran Hideaki Itsuno, the studio operates across two locations in Tokyo and Osaka. The studio offers a flexible and inclusive work environment and actively welcomes game creators who are full of talent and passion for pushing the boundaries of game development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design the fundamental rules, systems, and battle mechanics within the game, balancing the enjoyment and challenge felt by the player.
• Design the structure of each stage and mission, providing an appropriate level of difficulty and engagement for the player. Combine elements such as enemy placements, mechanics, and rewards to create effective stages.
• Design UI transitions and specifications, and create in-game text and dialogue.
• Design critical combat systems for action games, enhancing player strategy and a sense of achievement through character skills, combos, and AI behavior patterns.
• Work closely with programmers, artists, sound designers, and other team members to ensure a consistent overall game experience.

Requirements

• Experience in game design for AAA titles (preferred)
• Knowledge in mechanics design and level design for action games (preferred)
• Flexible creativity and logical thinking from a player's perspective
• Skills in making adjustments and improvements based on feedback from playtests
• Strong communication skills for smooth collaboration with other departments

Salary/Compensations

• Negotiable (with raises/bonuses)
• Includes 35 hours of fixed overtime per month for general employees.
