About the Role

As a Resource Manager, you will ensure work is allocated fairly and effectively across Practice Groups, balancing business needs with individual development and wellbeing. You will act as a trusted point of contact on resourcing, contributing to the improvement of resource management processes and the use of the Capacity platform.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day allocation of work across Practice Groups.
  • Match work to skills, considering development, workload, and wellbeing.
  • Identify and respond to resourcing pressure points, peaks, and gaps.
  • Build strong working relationships with Partners, team leads, and colleagues.
  • Use data to monitor utilisation and support forward planning.
  • Share clear, practical insight to support decision-making.
  • Support career development through thoughtful allocation of work.
  • Work with HR, L&D, and Knowledge teams as needed.
  • Encourage consistent and effective use of the Capacity platform.
  • Contribute to improving resource management processes and tools.
  • Support wider team initiatives and onboarding of new groups where required.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in resource or workforce planning, ideally in a law firm (Other professional services environments will be considered).
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Confidence using data to inform decisions and identify trends.
  • Sound judgement and a balanced, practical approach.
  • Clear and professional communication skills.
  • Comfort working in a changing environment and managing competing priorities.
  • Experience supporting change or process improvement.
